Ron Miscavige: A Selfish and Cruel Man

Director of Public Affairs: “Ron was the only staff member who was ever arrested.”

Cathy Fraser has been a member of the religious order for close to 30 years. She has been Director of Public Affairs at Golden Era Productions for the last decade and knew Ron Miscavige for 25 years.

As Director of Public Affairs for Golden Era Productions, I am responsible for interfacing with government agencies as part of my duties. As such I am intimately familiar with the following circumstances regarding Ron Miscavige.

Since the start of Golden Era Productions in 1978, Ron was the only staff member who was ever arrested. He is the only staff member who has ever been handcuffed by the police, thrown in the back of a police car and driven off to jail. When he was arrested, he was belligerent, condescending and arrogant to the police. This was after the police had followed him for five miles (sirens blaring which he chose to ignore), and after they finally got him to stop, at least three different drivers stopped to tell the police that Ron had nearly hit them. He had two passengers in his car—one was his wife (who told me she had told him to stop), and the other person was scared and shaking because he would not listen to her to slow down. He gave no care or concern for anyone else, which was typical of him.

After Ron was arrested, I also arranged attorneys for him so that he would not end up with a prison sentence. He screamed at me that the Church should pay for the attorneys. As it was not a Church matter, that could not be done. He finally hired the attorneys when it was clear he might have to serve a sentence. His attorneys persuaded the Court to not have him go to jail but to do community service instead. We arranged it so Ron could do his community service at Golden Era Productions as we were an approved group by the County of Riverside. Ron then actually tried to persuade us that he not do the community service. He tried all kinds of ways to get out of it, avoid it, get others to do it for him, tried to get me to lie and say he did it when he did not.

Ron would swear, be rude and obnoxious
to me and my staff.

At other times in my dealings with him, he was one of the rudest people I have ever known. I witnessed him several times when people were making an effort to go out of their way for him, and he would brush them off, say condescending things to them, be rough and abrupt and generally be as nasty as someone could be. Ron used to walk into my office any time he chose, no matter what else was happening, and demand to have my attention to get whatever he wanted.

Ron was selfish, cruel, a liar, despicable and the utterly worst person I have ever known.

Ron would swear, be rude and obnoxious to me and my staff. I found Ron’s attitude shocking especially in light of the fact that he was the father of the leader of our religion, who is nothing like him. Ron was selfish, cruel, a liar, despicable and the utterly worst person I have ever known.
